An iPad or mobile phone can be configured to be the main method for verifying your login to Google Drive using an on-screen code rather than entering a verification code sent to you via text.
Before continuing please ensure you have completed the steps to enable 2 Step Verification. Click this link for instructions: Google 2 Step Verification Setup
Step 1: Visit https://drive.google.com from a desktop or laptop, then login.
Step 2: In the top right corner, click the collection of dots then click Account.
Step 3: Click Security - This may be either down the left hand side or across the top of the screen then Click 2 Step Verification. Click Set Up below the Authenticator App option.
Step 4: Click iPhone, this also applies if you are using an iPad. Click Next
Step 8: The following screen will appear.
Please now switch to your iPad
Step 9: Install the Google Authenticator App. This can found in the App catalogue or as a free download from the App store or Google Play.
The following instructions and screen shots are taken from an iPad but the process is the same for iPad/iPhone or Android device.
Step 10: Open the Authenticator app and tap Begin Setup.
Step 11: Tap Scan Barcode
Step 12: Using your iPad, position the camera to view the QR Code that will be displayed on your screen from Step 8.
Step 13: A 6 digit code will be displayed on your iPad. Enter this code into the box displayed on your desktop or laptop. Then click Verify.
This app is now configured for use with Google Drive.
